Role Overview: This position will report to the senior director Global Security - International Operations in Indianapolis. The role will be the primary lead for Global Security support to the EMEA region and serves as a direct resource on matters affecting the security of Lilly employees, facilities and assets. The successful candidate will have a global view as well as experience interacting with a diverse workforce in an international setting. This position will focus on multifaceted security duties across the EMEA region including security governance and consultation support for company operations and employees. You may also be called upon to contribute to events and security management activities anywhere in the world based on the needs of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute successfully to a diverse team of security professionals: Integrate fundamental security related experience, training and skills into the Global Security team using highly effective interpersonal skills.
  • Deliver high-quality, effective security operations: Apply existing skills and develop new competences to execute duties in the areas of personnel and site security; asset protection; security investigations; threat intelligence; critical incident support; law enforcement liaison; and engagement of outside professional security resources.
  • Partner to ensure success: Establish and maintain key internal and external relationships to achieve operational successes. Key internal partners include Human Resources; Law Division; Health, Safety and Environment; Ethics and Compliance; Information Security; and Facilities Management. Maintain an external network of security & law enforcement professionals to aid in the execution of their duties. Establish and manage effective contracts, performance, and relationships with security and crisis management vendors.
  • Successfully manage crisis and emergency situations.
  • Investigation: Conduct complex criminal, computer crime and/or financial crime investigations. Examples include fraud, theft, counterfeit and diverted products, workplace investigations, loss of intellectual property by internal or external sources.
  • Security Assessments: Apply existing Lilly security standards and policies when conducting and fully documenting site security reviews of company facilities and strategic partners.
  • Physical security design: Conduct risk assessments of company sites using recognised security tools and protocols. Provide professional expertise in the design of security systems (CCTV, access control, alarms) and procedures.
  • Threat management: Comprehensive evaluation, investigation and response to threats or other hostile acts directed towards Lilly employees, facilities and the corporation.
  • Personal security: Security support for ‘at risk’ persons, to include conducting security advances, close protection, evacuation, medical triage, travel security intelligence and logistics management.
  • Regional leadership: Represent Lilly with EMEA region regulatory, law enforcement and professional organisations.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years investigative and case management experience in a national or regional law enforcement or intelligence agency.
  • Minimum of five years in a supervisory or team leader role, responsibilities of which include personnel and operational management.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish productive relationships and effectively liaise with law enforcement, regulatory and prosecutorial agencies including experience in joint investigations with foreign law enforcement and security services.
  • Knowledge of the operations and practices of European law enforcement and intelligence services.
  • Ability to interact successfully with people of diverse backgrounds, cultures and nationalities.
  • Experience in supervising and conducting complex transnational criminal, computer crime, and or financial crime investigations, and national security investigations.
  • Effective personal, oral and written communication skills including the ability to accurately and thoroughly document investigative results.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform duties independently with minimum supervision.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid passport and ability to travel throughout the EMEA region and internationally as necessary.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Security related degree or equivalent.
  • Experience outside of home country in an embassy or consulate setting as a representative of law enforcement or intelligence service.
  • Experience representing a multinational corporation or a western government with external professional organisations and foreign government agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and develop investigative information of value through multiple sources.
  • Experience briefing senior leaders.
  • Experience supporting expatriate employees and families.
  • Active network of contacts in European law enforcement and national security community, domestically and abroad.
  • Foreign Language Capability.
