We're looking for an Investment Modelling Associate to join our Commercial team and help shape investment decisions across Elgin's growing renewable energy portfolio. Our Modelling team sits at the heart of the Commercial function, a team of 24 talented professionals spanning origination, structuring, transactions and asset commercialisation across Elgin’s international portfolio. As we continue to grow, this is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact by delivering high-quality financial models, insightful commercial analysis and the investment intelligence that powers strategic decisions.
You’ll be at the forefront of evaluating opportunities, supporting investment strategies and helping drive the continued expansion of our renewable energy business. What you will be doing:
- Deliver in-depth financial analysis and modelling across the Elgin asset base;
- Perform in-depth analysis and modelling across transactions and deal structuring;
- Lead the group’s commercial modelling, reporting and analysis to controlling shareholder;
- Discounted cash flow modelling for asset valuation, investment appraisal and project-level returns analysis;
- Stakeholder relationship management both within the internal Elgin team, with the CIP team and with external advisors;
- Probing into potential financing arrangement scenarios and the implications on the existing group and individual project economics;
- Support the group’s go-to-market activities, understanding the sales process and due diligence requirements and providing commercial insight throughout the process;
- Support the Transaction Team with both buy-side and sell-side modelling;
- Support Group activities in forecast modelling and long-range commercial planning;
- Help build technical and commercial modelling knowledge across the wider Commercial function and internal teams.
What you will need:
- Strong consulting, infrastructure, project finance or industry background in a commercially focused modelling role;
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and its uses in commercial and financial modelling;
- Proven ability to build, interrogate complex models; must be able to construct models from scratch;
- Experience modelling debt and various debt structures (project finance, HoldCo facilities, refinancing) beneficial;
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including an awareness of funding and financing arrangements and their impact on group and asset-level modelling;
- Ability to provide a commercial view on the numbers and understand the business impact from a commercial perspective;
- Excellent communication skills, including report drafting, delivering presentations and an ability to influence all levels of the business;
- A professionally recognised finance (e.g. CFA) or accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA) would be an advantage, but not a prerequisite;
- Knowledge of the renewable energy sector a distinct advantage but not a prerequisite.
