You’ll monitor compliance, identify emerging risks and provide evidence-based assurance to support the development of fair, transparent and effective flexibility markets.
Working closely with our Flexibility Market and Performance Assurance teams, you’ll combine electricity market expertise, risk management and data analysis to assess implementation progress, address non-compliance and provide valuable insight to senior stakeholders and industry participants. This is an opportunity to contribute to Elexon’s expanding role as Market Facilitator, helping strengthen the governance and effective operation of flexibility markets throughout this important period of industry change.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and support Flexibility Market Rules Implementation Monitoring, assessing how effectively rules are being adopted across DSOs, NESO and other market participants.
- Collect and analyse implementation data to assess compliance, performance and the effectiveness of Flexibility Market Rules.
- Identify, assess and manage implementation risks, developing appropriate assurance and mitigation strategies.
- Act as a Risk Owner for allocated high-profile implementation risks, recommending appropriate Performance Assurance Techniques and additional assurance activities.
- Support the management of non-compliance processes, working with industry participants to develop and monitor mitigation plans.
- Develop clear, evidence-based technical reports, analysis and recommendations for senior management, Ofgem, advisory boards and industry stakeholders.
- Lead the development of data models, dashboards and implementation tracking tools to monitor risks, performance and progress.
- Work closely with Flexibility Market Designers to define the data required for effective implementation monitoring.
- Deliver assurance reviews and ad hoc audits, including data analysis, site visits and evaluation of audit findings.
- Engage with DSOs, NESO, flexibility providers and other stakeholders to resolve issues and promote consistency across market arrangements.
- Chair and contribute to industry working groups, committees and stakeholder discussions.
- Provide technical guidance and training on Flexibility Market Rules, Performance Assurance Techniques and BSC arrangements.
- Maintain appropriate governance, documentation and Local Working Instructions (LWIs) to support consistent assurance processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve assurance methodologies, reporting and risk management practices.
What you’ll bring:
- At least two years’ experience within the electricity market, with strong knowledge of electricity markets, Settlement arrangements and relevant flexibility market processes.
- Experience in operational risk management, including applying assurance frameworks and compliance monitoring techniques.
- Understanding of developments within the GB electricity market and their potential impact on industry stakeholders and BSC arrangements.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret complex data and identify emerging risks, trends and compliance issues.
- Experience producing technical and analytical reports, presenting complex findings clearly and accurately.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information to different audiences.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, including working with internal and external customers.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and engage constructively with industry participants.
- Confidence managing competing priorities, taking ownership of work and delivering to agreed deadlines.
- A proactive approach to identifying issues, recommending proportionate solutions and driving continuous improvement.
- High standards of professionalism, integrity and accountability.
It would also be beneficial if you have:
- Experience using SQL, Python or Power BI for data analysis, reporting or dashboard development.
- Experience chairing industry working groups, committees or similar stakeholder forums.
- Experience working within Agile project management or delivery environments.
- Previous involvement in flexibility market implementation, monitoring or assurance activities.
- Experience developing analytical tools or dashboards to monitor implementation risks and performance.
What’s in it for you:
- Salary – £63,000
- Excellent benefits including bonus, private medical insurance and generous pension scheme.
