Join Elexon and help shape the future of the GB energy market. We’re seeking an experienced Senior Policy Lead to join our Policy & Regulatory team. In this senior role, you will lead high‑profile policy workstreams that influence the operation and governance of GB energy markets. You will synthesise complex technical and regulatory issues, develop clear evidence‑based recommendations, and coordinate cross‑functional delivery to support government, Ofgem and industry stakeholders through periods of significant market transition.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee multiple policy projects end‑to‑end, ensuring robust analysis and governance.
- Commission, review and produce high‑quality technical reports, briefings and consultation responses for internal and external audiences.
- Manage stakeholder engagement with DESNZ, Ofgem, the ESO and industry groups to shape policy outcomes and build consensus.
- Provide strategic advice to senior leaders and the Board, translating complex regulatory change into clear business implications.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams and subject‑matter experts to deliver policy positions and implement approved change.
- Represent Elexon externally at panels, working groups and industry events, presenting findings and recommendations.
- Plan and prioritise a demanding portfolio, managing resources and timelines to meet time‑critical deadlines.
- Drive continuous improvement in team processes and ensure accurate publication and governance of change documentation.
- Mentor and develop more junior colleagues, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing team culture.
What you’ll bring
- Significant experience delivering regulatory, policy or market change in a complex environment.
- Exceptional written communication – able to explain technical and market concepts clearly and concisely for diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to influence and present to senior stakeholders, including government and industry representatives.
- Strong analytical mindset, comfortable navigating ambiguity and deriving practical recommendations.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills with experience managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- A collaborative, resilient and proactive approach with strong relationship‑building skills.
- Desirable (but not essential): Experience of the GB electricity market, industry Codes or wider energy policy. Background in project management, business analysis or regulatory economics.
