An established accounting practice with offices in Liverpool and Manchester is looking to appoint an experienced Tax Manager to lead and manage its tax function. Reporting directly to the Directors, you will take ownership of personal and corporate tax compliance, HMRC interactions, and tax planning, while overseeing the day-to-day running of the tax department.
Key Responsibilities of Tax Manager
- Completion and submission of self-assessment tax returns (high volume)
- Monitoring and reviewing tax payments due
- Managing corporate and personal tax compliance
- Handling all HMRC enquiries, investigations, and correspondence
- Delivering tax planning for individuals and businesses
- Completion and submission of P11D forms
- Managing and reviewing work within the tax team
- Ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements and deadlines
Experience Required for Tax Manager
- Experience working within an accountancy practice (essential)
- Strong experience across personal and corporate tax
- Proven background managing hundreds of self-assessment tax returns
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK tax legislation
- Confident dealing directly with HMRC
- Knowledge of CCH tax software advantageous but not essential
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong time management skills
Qualifications for Tax Manager
- Professionally qualified or qualified by experience
- ATT / ACA / ACCA or equivalent
- CTA or AAT not essential
This role can be based in either Manchester or Liverpool.
