Eleven have been retained by a Sustainable Chemicals start-up / scale up, who are looking for a Managing Director to guide the company through an exciting phase of transformative growth.

As a key leader, you will drive operational excellence, scale the business, and foster innovation in the Chemicals sector. Working closely with the CEO, you will define and execute strategies to achieve ambitious growth objectives while leading core functions including Commercial, Finance, HR, and Strategy.

Ideally we are looking for someone who has experience within a start-up environment, with a broad knowledge and experience, and is an excellent people manager as well as process developer. This is an on-site role, so being located near to Middlesbrough / willing to relocate is a must.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage multifunctional teams
  • Drive performance and accountability across all business functions, ensuring financial and operational targets are met.
  • Foster strong relationships with customers, industry partners, and stakeholders as a key representative of the company.
  • Collaborate with R&D and product teams to align innovation with commercial goals.
  • Champion the company’s culture and values across all levels of the organisation.
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience in Senior Leadership roles within the chemical, materials or process manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong track record in managing Finance, full P&L responsibility, delivering business growth, and inspiring multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to develop and execute long-term strategies while adapting to changing market dynamics.
  • Exceptional relationship-building abilities, with experience working with C-level executives and stakeholders.
  • Startup Experience: Beneficial, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
