Contracts Specialist – ISDA / EFET
Exciting opportunity to join a leading Global Commodity Trading company . Base in London Reporting to the Legal Counsel and Head of Contracts
Serves as primary point of contact and is responsible for handling all stages of the contract process from initial drafting to execution for various energy-commodity master agreements for gas and power and FX transactions including ISDA Master Agreements / CSA and various annexes, EFET General Agreements, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and other industry standard agreements.
Documentation support
- Draft, review, and negotiate ISDA Master Agreements, EFET General Agreements, and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and other industry standard agreements including ancillary CSAs and various annexes, Guarantees and NDAs.
Contract Management
- Maintain an organised, auditable repository of executed agreements, drafts, and correspondence, ensuring compliance with FCA and European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) recordkeeping rules.
- Track key contractual dates, renewal triggers, and renegotiation windows.
Regulatory & Compliance Support
- Monitor compliance with:
- UK EMIR and EU EMIR reporting and clearing obligations.
- REMIT disclosure and reporting rules for gas and power markets.
- Relevant UK/EU MiFID II and wholesale energy market conduct requirements.
- Assist with KYC/AML checks in line with UK and EU standards.
- Identify and escalate contractual or compliance risks to the legal and risk teams.
Operational Liaison
- Coordinate with external counsel, trading desks, operations, and compliance teams.
- Support traders and schedulers in interpreting contractual rights and obligations in cross-border transactions.
- Assist in dispute resolution and settlement processes.
- Prepare summaries and reports on documentation status, exposure, and compliance for management
- Assist with negotiation playbooks and standard templates tailored to gas and power markets
- Participate in internal legal projects to support the buildout of trading documentation infrastructure
Requirements for role
- Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal certificate from an accredited college or institution
- Min 5+ years direct contract experience, preferably in the Energy/Commodities Industry.
- Understanding of physical and financial trading in power and gas markets
- Understanding of applicable regulations and associated industry documentation initiatives
