Help shape a new charity supporting people affected by addiction, mental health challenges, trauma, and neurodivergence. We’re seeking a Trustee with commissioning experience to provide strategic guidance, strengthen partnerships, and support sustainable growth during our transition to a CIO.

As a founding Trustee, you will play a vital part in helping Eleven Recovery CIO develop into a sustainable, impactful charity capable of supporting individuals affected by addiction, mental health challenges, trauma, and neurodivergence. You will help us build a sustainable organisation capable of reaching more people and creating greater impact across Sheffield and South Yorkshire.

We are looking for a committed and values‑driven individual who can contribute to the strategic development and long‑term sustainability of Eleven Recovery CIO as we establish and grow our services. Ideal Trustees will have significant experience in commissioning, public health, adult social care, housing, homelessness, mental health, substance misuse services, or related areas within local authorities, the NHS, Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), or the wider public sector. They will understand commissioning processes, procurement frameworks, service specifications, contract management, quality assurance, and outcomes‑based delivery.

We are particularly interested in someone who can help us understand how services are commissioned, identify partnership opportunities and growth, and ensure our services meet local needs and strategic priorities. Experience supporting charities, social enterprises, or voluntary sector organisations to secure commissioned services would be highly beneficial.

Key qualities

  • Strategic thinking and sound judgement
  • Strong integrity and commitment to ethical decision‑making
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a Board
  • Confidence to provide constructive challenge and support
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and reducing stigma
  • Passion for improving outcomes for people facing complex challenges

While commissioning experience is the primary requirement, an understanding of addiction, mental health, trauma, homelessness, or neurodivergence would be advantageous. We place significant value on lived experience and welcome applications from individuals with personal or family experience of addiction recovery, mental health challenges, trauma, neurodivergence, or accessing support services.

We are building the founding Board of Trustees for Eleven Recovery CIO as we transition from a Community Interest Company (CIC) into a registered charity. You will contribute to discussions around service development, organisational growth, impact measurement, and long‑term sustainability. You may be invited to sit on a small development or strategy subgroup focused on commissioning, partnerships, and future funding opportunities.

As part of the Board, you will help shape the organisation from the ground up and leave a lasting legacy through the development of a charity that aims to transform lives, strengthen communities, and improve recovery outcomes for the most marginalised people in society.
