Eleven Eleven recruitment are seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor on a Self Employed basis working out of their Peterborough office alongside the Managing Director & Construction Manager of a reputable main contractor.

About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our client's growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional to take a lead role within our business, overseeing the commercial function and supporting a team of surveyors across a range of projects. You will act as the commercial lead on multiple sites, ensuring the smooth delivery of projects from tender through to final account. The ideal candidate will be confident managing people, liaising with clients, and driving best practice in cost control, procurement, and contract management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the commercial function across multiple projects.
  • Manage, mentor, and support a team of Quantity Surveyors and Assistants.
  • Take full commercial responsibility for project delivery from inception to completion.
  • Prepare, review, and submit valuations, variations, and final accounts.
  • Negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and terms to maximise project profitability.
  • Report directly to senior management on cost performance and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Lead within the construction industry.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving license - site visits will be required.
  • Groundworks and development experience preferred but not essential.
