Join us as a Lift and Escalators Service Engineer. We are currently recruiting for a Lift and Escalators Service Engineer to be based in the Kent area to carry out planned preventative maintenance regimes as determined by the contract terms on portfolio lift/escalator equipment. Works will also include minor repair work and the lifecycle replacement of components.
Your main responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will be responsible for the carrying out of planned preventative maintenance regimes as determined by the contract terms to on portfolio lift/escalator equipment and be responsible for completion of Schindler safety inspections and closure of any open non-conformity to current legislation or standards.
- They will also oversee improvement of equipment condition to improve the time between technical call-backs and reduce lift equipment downtime.
- Works will also include minor repair work and the lifecycle replacement of components.
- The successful candidate must adhere to all company safety and conduct procedures and provide coverage by an ’on call’ rota for out of hours calls, maintenance and repairs.
What you'll be doing:
- Carrying out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repair work and the routine replacement of components and in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+ etc).
- Rectifying and reducing faults on lift/escalator equipment in cases of breakdown and check to confirm correct functioning.
- Checking the lift/escalator function as part of maintenance, checks to include speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature and power supplies using approved company issued tooling and protective equipment.
- Carrying out the routine inspection and adjustment of lift/escalator in accordance with approved procedures.
- Reinstate lift/escalator and complete service documentation.
- Carrying out more advanced fault finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques, technical manuals and appropriate test equipment, restoring equipment to service.
- Competence is required to make effective use of written or graphical information.
- Carrying out site surveys and attend all relevant training sessions to keep up to date on technical knowledge and skills.
- Working in accordance with the Company’s Safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements, as well as setting a personal example of safe behaviour.
- Contributing to the Company safety objectives, where necessary by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems under their direct control and implementing agreed changes (where applicable) to its safety management system.
What you bring:
- Experience in Lift/Escalator Servicing/ Maintenance/ Repairs preferred.
- Qualified to NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator maintenance or equivalent.
- Willingness to work towards Schindler Certification Level 3.
- Red Advanced Electrical and Mechanical knowledge, including Multi-Brand equipment.
- Advanced problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work under pressure, to deadlines and within efficiencies.
- The ability to work independently with a flexible approach.
- Good communication skills at different levels (Client/Service Leader/Inspectors).
- Manual dexterity - Requires the use of hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate various hand and power tools and to record written information.
- Proven fault finding and diagnostic skills.
- Good administration skills and punctuality.
- Full UK driving License.
