Elevation Recruitment are working with a well-established precision engineering business looking to bring in an Inspector / Machinist to support both quality and production. This is a varied role where you'll split your time between inspection and machining, working on high-spec components and playing a key part in maintaining quality standards across the shop floor.
Salary: Competitive – dependent on experience
Shift Pattern: Mornings & Afternoons
Location: Sheffield
Responsibilities
- Carry out visual and dimensional inspection of components
- Complete inspection reports, including DIR documentation and OGP scanning
- Record measurement data accurately using Excel
- Use manual measuring equipment including verniers and callipers
- Identify and reject non-conforming parts in line with quality standards
- Set up and operate CNC machines to run pre-programmed jobs
- Ensure machined parts meet customer specifications using precision instruments
- Complete all relevant documentation including route cards and inspection sheets
- Safely move materials using pallet trucks and handling equipment
- Report faulty equipment, defects, or unusual issues to supervision
- Support continuous improvement, Lean, and EHS initiatives
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
Requirements
- Previous experience in a machining and inspection environment
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and work instructions
- Confident using measuring equipment (verniers, callipers etc.)
- Experience operating CNC machinery (and manual machines is a bonus)
- Strong attention to detail and a “right first time” mindset
- Basic IT skills, including Excel
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
