Elevation Recruitment Group are currently working with a well-established aerospace manufacturer in Sheffield to recruit an experienced X-Ray Operative to join their NDT department. This is an excellent opportunity for a Level II qualified NDT professional to join a business operating to the highest aerospace quality standards within a structured and supportive environment.
The Role
As an X-Ray Operative, you will carry out radiographic non-destructive testing on aerospace components, ensuring all products meet strict industry and customer specifications. Working within a highly regulated environment, you will interpret technical documentation, set up and calibrate equipment, evaluate weld integrity, and accurately record inspection results. Once fully signed off, you will move onto a 3-shift rotation.
Key Responsibilities
- Review routers, procedures and technical specifications prior to inspection
- Operate and maintain X-ray generating equipment
- Process and inspect parts in line with NDT procedures
- Identify and evaluate weld discontinuities
- Set up, calibrate and carry out process control checks
- Interpret, evaluate and document inspection results
- Generate or amend NDT data cards for Level III approval
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and records
- Provide on-the-job training to trainees and Level II inspectors where required
About You
- Currently hold or have previously held EN4179/NAS410 Level II X-Ray (essential)
- PCN Level II X-Ray (desirable)
- Strong ability to interpret standards and specifications
- Experience working within AS9100 and NADCAP environments (desirable)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a busy environment
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Understanding of materials technology within an aerospace setting (desirable)
