Elevation Recruitment Group is partnering with a high growth SME in the Sheffield area on a significant ERP transformation migrating to SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud. This is a pivotal role for an experienced Business Solutions Architect to sit at the heart of the programme as the design authority, ensuring every decision made across the full solution landscape holds together as a coherent, scalable whole. This isn't a configuration role or a delivery management role. It's an architecture role the person who owns the blueprint, sets the standards, and makes sure the programme doesn't drift from them.
Duties & Responsibilities of the Business Solutions Architect:
- Acting as the primary design authority for the ERP programme - owning the end-to-end solution architecture and ensuring every component across business processes, data, integrations, security and reporting fits together as a single integrated solution.
- Translating business requirements into feasible, end-to-end solution designs that maximise standard SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud capabilities and protect the integrity of the clean core.
- Constructively challenging requirements that deviate from fit-to-standard principles or introduce unnecessary complexity and having the gravitas to make that stick.
- Leading design and data governance forums, resolving cross workstream conflicts and keeping the programme aligned to architectural standards throughout.
- Owning the legacy and peripheral application landscape - ensuring third-party systems integrate cleanly with SAP and managing the decommissioning of those being retired.
- Acting as the key link between business process owners, functional leads, data and integration teams, change management, and the SI preventing fragmentation and keeping the solution coherent end-to-end.
- Ensuring the solution is scalable, maintainable, and aligned to long-term business strategy not just fit for go-live.
Skills & Experience required:
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect or Business Solutions Architect on large scale ERP programmes - SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud is the target platform, but strong hands-on design authority experience on a comparable cloud ERP (Oracle Fusion, for example) will be seriously considered.
- A demonstrated track record of acting as a design authority setting standards, governing decisions, and resolving conflicts across workstreams, not just advising on them.
- Deep understanding of cloud ERP constraints, fit-to-standard design principles, and extensibility models - you know why clean core matters and you know how to defend it.
- Strong cross functional business solutioning experience spanning processes, data, integrations, and user experience.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills comfortable influencing at senior levels across both business and IT without direct authority.
- Strong architectural thinking: able to simplify complex problems and maintain clarity across a large, multi-workstream programme.
- Experience in SME or mid-market environments is an advantage - this is a hands on, standalone role and not one that comes with layers of support.
Please note - this is a 12-month fixed-term contract based hybrid in the Sheffield-based office, hybrid working (2-3 days on site, with increased presence during the SAP Explore phase). Candidates MUST be within a reasonable commute - This is not a remote role.
If you're an experienced Solutions Architect looking for a programme where your design decisions will genuinely shape a business - not get lost in a layer of governance - get in touch today!
