An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Laboratory Manager to join a rapidly growing advanced manufacturing business operating within the aerospace and high-performance interconnect sector. This is a key leadership role within an AS9100-certified environment, offering the chance to shape and develop a modern, forward-thinking test laboratory as significant investment is made into people, capability, and equipment.

This role would suit someone with a strong background in electronic/electro-mechanical product testing, combined with hands-on experience in mechanical and environmental validation, who is ready to take ownership of a busy and evolving test function.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing a team of test engineers and technicians
  • Planning, coordinating, and delivering electrical, mechanical, and environmental testing
  • Ensuring compliance with AS9100, MIL-STD, and customer specifications
  • Owning calibration, maintenance, and utilisation of all test equipment
  • Developing test strategies, procedures, and validation plans
  • Driving investment plans for new and upgraded lab equipment
  • Supporting failure analysis, design reviews, and continuous improvement activity
  • Maintaining high-quality documentation for audits and customer submissions

About You

  • Experience in product testing, validation, or reliability engineering
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical test methods (e.g. vibration, shock, thermal cycling, insulation/contact resistance)
  • Leadership or supervisory experience within a lab or engineering environment
  • Understanding of calibration and test instrumentation
  • A proactive approach to improving processes and lab capability
  • Experience within aerospace, defence, automotive, or similar regulated industries (desirable)
