- Review and approve technical drawings, models, and documentation produced by junior engineers and CAD technicians.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to less experienced team members.
- Collaborate closely with the fabrication team to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and compliant with welding/fabrication standards.

- Ensure all work is delivered in line with company quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Significant experience in mechanical design engineering, ideally within structural or heavy engineering sectors.
- Demonstrable expertise in manual hand calculations for structural and mechanical design.
- Strong knowledge of welding principles, weld design, and fabrication processes (machining, cutting, assembly, etc.).

- Good understanding of materials, tolerancing, and manufacturing methods.
- In-depth knowledge of BS, EN, and ISO design codes and standards.
- Strong communication, leadership, and team mentoring skills.
- Excellent problem-solving ability and meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience working on infrastructure or construction projects.
- Familiarity with FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation).
- CSCS card (or willingness to obtain one).
- The opportunity to take a leading role on complex, bespoke engineering projects with tangible real-world impact.
