About the Role
Elevation are working with a specialist engineering business that delivers advanced control systems and digital solutions into complex, safety-critical environments. The company supports large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects, helping clients improve operational efficiency, reliability, and compliance.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Principal Engineer to take ownership of the design and integration of control and gas distribution systems. This is a senior, technically focused role with responsibility across the full project lifecycle, from initial concept through to final delivery and commissioning.
The Role
This position will lead technical delivery across multiple projects, working closely with internal engineering teams, clients, and wider stakeholders. You will combine hands-on engineering with project oversight, ensuring solutions are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.
You will also play a key role in guiding less experienced engineers, supporting project planning activities, and contributing to successful project execution from both a technical and commercial perspective.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and integration of control and gas distribution systems
- Take ownership of technical solutions from concept through to delivery
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams
- Work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to define and deliver solutions
- Support commissioning and on-site activities where required
- Contribute to project planning, resourcing, and cost control
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and quality processes
- Support bid activity, technical proposals, and sign-off processes
- Mentor and develop junior engineers within the team
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in a senior or lead engineering position
- Background in systems engineering, electrical design, or hardware integration
- Experience delivering projects within regulated or safety-critical environments
- Strong understanding of engineering best practice and project delivery
Technical Skills
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical
- Working knowledge of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems
- Strong understanding of systems integration and control systems
- Familiarity with project management, cost control, and quality processes
