Elevation Senior Finance are delighted to be recruiting for a leading public sector organisation in Sheffield as they look to recruit a Head of Finance. This is a new role for the business, where you will be responsible for leading the financial reporting for a variety of new initiatives across the organisation. As Head of Finance you will provide senior financial leadership and expert advice to Directors and budget holders. You will ensure strong financial governance, robust reporting and effective financial planning, while leading and developing a high-performing finance team.
Responsibilities:
- Act as senior financial advisor for designated service areas, ensuring statutory and governance responsibilities are met
- Lead the development of financial strategies, controls and reporting frameworks
- Provide high-quality business partnering to Directors and senior stakeholders, influencing decision-making and performance
- Support annual budget setting and medium-term financial planning
- Deliver accurate and timely management accounts, board reports and financial modelling for business cases
- Manage financial risk and ensure compliance with legislation and accounting standards
- Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing finance team
Key skills / qualifications:
- Fully qualified CCAB accountant (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in a senior finance role, ideally within local government or a large, complex organisation
- Strong understanding of financial legislation, reporting standards and risk management
- Demonstrable expertise in budgeting, financial planning and business partnering
- Excellent communication, analytical and influencing skills
- A collaborative leader able to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders
