Are you an experienced Accounts Assistant or Bookkeeper looking for a varied role with genuine career progression? We are recruiting on behalf of a successful and expanding UK manufacturing business with a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and customer service. Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Assistant to join their friendly and supportive team. This is far more than a traditional accounts position. You'll gain exposure to a broad range of finance, costing, stock control, and business administration activities, working closely with both the Finance Manager and operational teams. The role offers excellent development opportunities, including support for further qualifications and progression into management accounting responsibilities.
The Role
- Purchase ledger management, supplier payments, and invoice processing
- Sales ledger administration, customer invoicing, and credit control
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- VAT return preparation and financial record maintenance
- Payroll control account administration
- Stock control, inventory management, and stock costing
- Assisting with project costing and profitability analysis
- Supporting monthly reporting, trial balances, and management accounts
- General office administration and business support duties
About You
We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive, and enjoys working in a varied role within a busy business environment. You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper, or similar finance position
- A solid understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bookkeeping principles
- Experience using Sage 50
- Good Microsoft Excel and Word skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities
- Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach
