The Category Manager will take ownership of defined spend categories, driving value through effective category strategies, supplier management, and stakeholder collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and delivering category strategies aligned with business objectives
- Leading supplier sourcing, negotiation, and contract management activities
- Managing and developing relationships with key strategic suppliers
- Analysing spend, market trends, and supply risks to inform commercial decisions
- Working closely with internal stakeholders across manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and finance
- Driving continuous improvement across cost, quality, service, and sustainability
- Supporting manufacturing projects and new product introductions with effective sourcing solutions
- Ensuring procurement policies, governance, and best practice are followed
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Category Manager or Senior Buyer within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills with a track record of delivering value
- Experience managing complex spend categories and strategic suppliers
- The ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
- Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to problem solving
- CIPS qualification or working towards this would be advantageous
