Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a Hydraulic Systems company based in West Yorkshire to recruit an Electrical Controls Engineer. My client is the largest supplier of fluid power products, systems and solutions across the UK.
The Electrical Controls Engineer will be responsible for creating electrical and control scopes for new projects in the electro-hydraulic market. This is a national role, working in the projects and contract works commercial engineering team, in order to contribute to the growth of engineering sales within the existing customer base and in new customers.
The successful candidate will effectively manage the Customer Account Strategy in order to become the trusted partner for electro-hydraulic solutions in high value clients. This is a key role to ensure the upfront solution provides profitable sales and margin in line with company targets.
The Electrical Controls Engineer will support and execute your strategy and commercially grow the discipline offering, in addition work to cross pollinate with other sales and engineering teams to ensure the whole value proposition is maximised and our hydraulic application offering is leading within the UK.
The Electrical Control Engineer will be required to:
- Analyse and understand project specification documents and create scope and RFQ documents
- Design of PLC software and electrical systems for in-house projects
- Work closely with sub-contractors to create and verify designs on larger scale projects
- Carry out on-site commissioning and troubleshooting
- Contribute to new growth within each focus account involving project works, complex contract works and high value potential
- Work closely with colleagues in the Projects team, Engineering Centres, Onsite Services, Mobile and Generalist teams, offering technical support, design experience and solution scope design with on/off site joint customer visits
- Ensure strong knowledge and up to date industry activity regarding electrical & controls technology solution and potential project works
- Carry out customer visits and focus on long term high value relationships
- Become the trusted advisor and support partner for our customers' application solutions, thereby surpassing our customers’ expectations
- Build relationships with sales/technical people within our group and our supply chain
- Ensure accurate quotations are created with approval and ownership, work and develop internal sales support functions to maximise output
- Work with suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure you are adding value to both the customer base and the supplier base
- Lead Technical negotiations in support of engineering sales teams with customers and partners capturing the outcomes in appropriate contracts and agreements
- Ensure H&S and corporate governance is adhered to; in particular ensuring the technical/commercial approval process for bids and agreements is followed
Key Skills & Knowledge required:
- Qualified in an Electrical OR Controls Engineering discipline
- PLC programming skills
- Electrical Control systems design knowledge
- Experience in technical support to sales teams and to tender processes
- Background in a customer facing role
- Understanding of CDM regulations
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems would be advantageous
