2nd Line Support Engineer (with Networking focus)Sheffield – Hybrid workingPermanent£35,000 – £45,000 DOE + Benefits

Are you a skilled 2nd Line Support Engineer with a passion for networking? Do you have (or are you working towards) your CCNA certification and want to expand your expertise in Cisco, Fortinet, and cloud technologies? If so, this could be the role to take your career to the next level.

Elevation IT are supporting a Sheffield based business in their search to find an IT Network professional who enjoys the variety of day-to-day support but also wants to get hands-on with networking projects, security solutions and cloud infrastructure.

Key duties & Responsibilities 

  • Providing Tier 2 support across IT systems (M365, identity, Intune basics, endpoints)
  • Resolving networking incidents, troubleshooting performance issues, and escalating where necessary
  • Supporting the design, configuration, and optimisation of Cisco-based networks
  • Gaining hands-on exposure to Fortinet security solutions and SD-WAN
  • Assisting with the deployment and management of Zscaler for secure internet access and threat protection
  • Monitoring network and cloud performance, using tools to proactively identify issues
  • Documenting configurations and incidents, keeping records accurate and audit-ready
  • Collaborating with colleagues across sites, occasionally travelling to provide on-site support

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong 2nd Line Support background in a multi-site environment, with ticketing/SLA experience
  • Cisco CCNA certification (or currently studying towards it)
  • Some experience supporting network infrastructures
  • Knowledge of Fortinet, Zscaler, or Azure would be a big plus (but not essential)
  • A proactive approach, with a keen interest in developing your networking skills further
