An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Compliance Manager to join a global utilities business based in Leeds. Reporting to the Head of Risk and Compliance, this is a high-profile role ensuring regulatory compliance, effective governance, and strong internal control across the organisation.
This position offers significant autonomy and visibility, working with senior stakeholders and regulatory bodies to maintain compliance with licence obligations, legislation and industry codes.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the business remains fully compliant with legislation applicable to UK non-domestic supply activities.
- Monitor and assess regulatory change, collaborating closely with internal colleagues across Risk, Audit & Policy.
- Implement new regulatory requirements, industry policies, and programmes into the organisation.
- Communicate regulatory changes clearly across the business, ensuring understanding and engagement.
- Create, update, and embed compliance processes, policies and controls.
- Develop reporting and governance frameworks to improve management insight and regulatory oversight.
- Lead regulatory reporting and timely submission of RFIs, liaising with stakeholders to streamline requirements.
- Act as primary contact for regulatory audits, providing guidance and direction to internal teams.
- Ensure Internal Controls (INCOME) activities are completed on time and to the required standard.
- Oversee Business Continuity Planning and maintain ISO accreditations.
- Ensure Third-Party Intermediary (TPI) audits are conducted in line with agreements and industry standards.
- Strong experience in compliance within a regulated environment, utilities or energy sector is highly advantageous.
- Proven track record of interpreting legislation, implementing regulatory change, and ensuring operational compliance.
- Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills.
- Confident developing policies, controls and reporting structures.
- Governance-minded, proactive, and able to work independently with senior stakeholders.
- Comfortable engaging with regulators, auditors, and management teams.
