I'm working on a newly created opportunity with an organisation investing heavily in AI, innovation and emerging technology. This isn't a traditional software engineering role, nor is it an AI strategy or consultancy position. We're looking for a hands-on engineer with strong TypeScript/Node.js experience who is already using modern AI tooling and AI-native development approaches to accelerate development, prototype solutions and solve real business problems.

The role sits within a small, highly autonomous team responsible for identifying opportunities, rapidly testing ideas and building AI-powered solutions that can be deployed across multiple business areas. You'll be given the freedom to experiment, challenge assumptions, fail fast and scale what works.

We're particularly interested in people with:

  • Strong TypeScript / Node.js engineering experience
  • Experience building and deploying production systems in AWS
  • Experience working with LLMs, agentic workflows and RAG architectures
  • Curiosity around emerging technologies and AI-native development
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • The ability to move quickly in ambiguous environments

This is not a role for someone who wants to sit behind a ticket queue. It's for someone who enjoys solving problems, building prototypes, learning quickly and working closely with users to create meaningful outcomes.

Hybrid working – approximately 10 days per month in Yorkshire or London office. Up to £110,000 + benefits. Confidential conversations welcomed.

How to prepare for a job interview at Elevation Recruitment Group

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Elevation Recruitment Group uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
