Job Description

HR Manager

Keighley | Part-time c20 hours (would suit school hours 4 days a week) | Permanent

We’re on the lookout for a confident and people-focused HR Manager to take the lead on all things HR. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll be trusted to shape how the organisation attracts, supports, and grows their people — from recruitment and onboarding, right through to development and engagement.

This isn’t just about policies and paperwork (though you’ll keep them on the right side of legislation too). It’s about building strong relationships, being a trusted voice for managers and employees, and creating an environment where people feel supported to do their best work.

A bit about the role:

  • Be the first port of call for day-to-day HR queries and coach managers through people challenges.
  • Lead on employee relations — from tricky conversations to positive resolutions.
  • Work closely with union reps to keep things fair, transparent, and collaborative.
  • Bring fresh ideas to HR policy, making sure it supports both the business and the people in it.
  • Own the recruitment process — helping find and onboard great talent.
  • Champion learning, development, and succession planning s
  • Keep an eye on wellbeing, engagement, and attendance — and bring in practical ways to improve them.
  • Play a key role in change projects and aligning HR strategy with business goals.

What we’d love you to bring:

  • CIPD qualification (essential).
  • Solid generalist HR experience under your belt.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and how to apply it day-to-day.
  • Experience in a unionised environment is a must.
  • A calm, confident approach to conflict resolution and employee relations.
  • Great communication skills — you’ll need to connect with people at every level.
  • A proactive, hands-on style — you’ll enjoy rolling up your sleeves.
  • The resilience to manage tough conversations, balanced with the empathy to support people.

This role is perfect if you’re ready to step into a leadership position where your voice matters. You’ll get to shape the HR function, partner directly with the CEO, and make a real difference to both the business and the people who work here.
