Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with a leading precision engineering manufacturer in Bradford to recruit an experienced Grinder / Fitter to join their Machine Shop team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual with strong bench fitting and hand-finishing experience to join a well-established business that values quality, safety, continuous improvement, and employee development.
Location: Bradford
Salary: £29,750 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Shift: Days (6:00am – 2:00pm, with an early finish on Fridays)
The Role
As a Grinder / Fitter you will be responsible for fitting, deburring, and finishing high-complexity components to exact drawing specifications, ensuring products meet the highest quality standards while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Fitting and deburring components to engineering drawing requirements
- Ensuring all production documentation is accurate, up to date, and legible
- Maintaining workplace standards and adhering to company procedures
- Carrying out Operator Asset Care tasks
- Identifying and reporting hazards and safety concerns
- Auditing work areas in line with company 6S standards
- Escalating tooling, drawing, routing, and machine-related issues
- Supporting investigations into non-conformances using 5Y and 8D methodologies
- Recording and documenting production data accurately
- Following stock control procedures at all times
- Contributing to continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives
- Communicating effectively across shifts and completing thorough handovers
- Providing on-the-job training and support to apprentices and new starters
About You
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- Previous bench fitting, deburring, or precision hand-finishing experience (essential)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and technical understanding
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of quality systems and manufacturing procedures
- An understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
