Elevation Recruitment Group have a unique and exciting role with a leading manufacturer in York, to recruit a Welding Engineer/RWC. The purpose of this role is to control welding inspection activities on behalf of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for welding procedure qualification records (WPQRS) on material before welding.
- If not qualified for grade of material then review metallurgy and run trial tests organising third parties to witness tests.
- Coordinate activities of NDT.
- Coordinate QC activities.
- Ensure that everyone is qualified in line with welding regulations.
- Deal with more complex non-conformances ie crack in weld.
- Investigate and follow rectification procedure for more complex non-conformances.
- Work with NDT and Production Manager to develop a solution.
- Maintain welding qualification records.
- Sign off NCRs.
- Complete a review for new projects looking at materials, position of weld and type of weld.
- Attend Technical Reviews.
- Complete paperwork for Traceability and special customer requirements.
It is required that the candidate will hold a technical or quality qualification at HNC level, a RWC qualification and have welding experience/inspection qualification. Ideally, they will come from a quality background and understand Quality Systems and Standards, from a technical or engineering related background, with knowledge or welding/fabrication/metals.
