Elevations Design & Projects team are seeking a highly organised and detail-driven Document Controller to support a key global manufacturing client looking to strengthen their design and project delivery teams. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth flow of technical documentation and information across the business, both internally and externally. By taking ownership of document management, the Document Controller enables the design team to focus on technical delivery, contributing directly to project efficiency and quality assurance.
You will be responsible for uploading, downloading, tracking, and distributing documentation in line with established project protocols, and maintaining a high level of accuracy and traceability as part of our Quality Management System (QMS).
Key Responsibilities- Upload drawings and 3D models to client and internal portals, following project-specific naming and version control protocols.
- Download and organise incoming client documentation (e.g. drawings, specifications, models) from external portals.
- Distribute relevant information to appropriate departments across the business (e.g. design, site, procurement, fabrication).
- Maintain document status records, clearly identifying versions, approvals, and issue stages.
- Monitor and highlight any non-compliance with naming or formatting protocols, escalating issues where necessary.
- Generate documentation reports and status summaries for internal stakeholders as required.
- Prepare construction documentation packs for site teams, including printing, binding, and laminating as needed.
- Assist in compiling key compliance and project documentation, including health & safety files and company policies.
- Perform regular audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and traceability of documentation in line with the QMS.
- Support users across departments with training or navigation of document portals and systems.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage high volumes of documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Confident using IT systems and able to quickly learn and navigate multiple document platforms/portals.
- Basic standard of education (GCSEs or equivalent).
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Able to work independently and manage workload under time pressure.
- Prior experience in a document control or administration role in a construction, engineering, or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with document control standards (BS EN ISO 9001, naming protocols, revision control, etc.).
- Experience with EDMS platforms (e.g. Viewpoint, Asite, BIM 360, 4Projects) or similar.
