The Role

We are recruiting for an experienced CNC Setter / Operator to join a well-established precision engineering environment. This is a permanent, day shift role offering a great work-life balance with a 4-day working week. You will be responsible for setting and operating fixed head CNC turning machines, ensuring high-quality production and efficient machining processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and operate CNC fixed head turning machines to produce precision components
  • Carry out full machine set-ups in line with tooling layouts and process requirements
  • Produce first-off components and ensure quality standards are met before production runs
  • Monitor production, manage tooling wear, and adjust offsets where required
  • Perform in-process inspection using a range of measurement equipment
  • Prepare tooling and materials for upcoming production runs
  • Record production data and update systems accurately
  • Support continuous improvement and maintain high housekeeping standards (5S)

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience in CNC turning, ideally fixed head machines
  • Proven ability to set and operate CNC machinery independently
  • Experience with multi-spindle or multi-turret machines and live tooling
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and NC programs
  • Good understanding of tooling, materials, and cutting data
  • Confident using inspection equipment and measurement techniques
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Experience with FANUC controls
  • CAD/CAM knowledge (e.g. Fusion 360, EdgeCAM, SolidCAM)
  • Exposure to sliding head machining
