We work closely with employers to ensure our provision meets the needs of industry, and we're proud of our reputation for outstanding teaching, learning, and assessment.

The Role

As an Electrical Tutor, you will deliver theoretical and practical training across our electrical apprenticeship programmes (e.g. Engineering maintenance technician, Level 3 single and dual discipline and short commercial courses), ensuring learners are supported to achieve their qualifications and progress into skilled employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality classroom and practical workshop sessions covering electrical installation, testing, and maintenance.
  • Deliver commercial short courses (e.g. 18th Edition, Inspection & Testing, PAT Testing) to industry professionals.
  • Assess learner progress against apprenticeship standards and qualification criteria, providing constructive feedback.
  • Prepare learners for End Point Assessment and external examinations.
  • Maintain accurate learner records, tracking progress, attendance, and achievement in line with awarding body and funding requirements.
  • Ensure all training delivery meets health & safety, safeguarding, and Prevent duty requirements.
  • Keep up to date with changes to wiring regulations, industry standards, and best practice, embedding these into course content.
  • Support learners with additional needs, ensuring inclusive teaching practice.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers to ensure training remains relevant to workplace needs.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, resource creation, and continuous improvement of course materials.

What We're Looking For

  • Recognised electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical, City & Guilds 2365/2360, or equivalent).
  • Substantial industry experience as a qualified electrician.
  • A teaching/training qualification, or willingness to work towards one (e.g. Level 3 AET / PTLLS, or Level 5 DET).
  • Strong working knowledge of current wiring regulations and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate learners of varying abilities.
  • Good organisational skills and IT proficiency (e.g. Microsoft Office, learner management systems).
  • Internal Quality Assurance qualification (e.g. IQA/V1).
  • Experience delivering apprenticeship standards and working with End Point Assessment Organisations.
  • Inspection & Testing qualification (C&G 2391 or equivalent).
  • A full UK driving licence (if travel to employer sites is required).

All appointments are subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
