We are seeking an experienced Labour & Employment Counsel to support UK-focused employment matters, with some involvement in Ireland. This is a hands-on role working closely with HR, Employee Relations, senior leadership, and external counsel on a wide range of advisory, transactional, and contentious employment law issues.
Start Date: March 2026
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted Employment Law adviser to internal stakeholders, including HR, Employee Relations, Mobilisation teams, and senior leadership.
- Lead and support employment litigation and pre-litigation matters, working alongside ER teams and external lawyers.
- Manage and contribute to UK & Ireland employment law projects, including regional elements of global initiatives.
- Provide legal support on complex employment aspects of:
- Outsourcing arrangements, including drafting and negotiating employment-related contractual provisions, managing risk, and advising on employee transitions.
- Mergers, acquisitions, and ventures, with a focus on post-merger integration and, where required, due diligence and deal execution.
- Advise on industrial relations and collective bargaining, including collective consultation obligations in both operational and transactional contexts.
Skills & Experience Required
- 6+ years’ PQE in Employment Law.
- Qualified solicitor in England & Wales.
- Strong technical knowledge across UK employment law.
- Experience advising senior stakeholders with confidence and credibility.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and project management skills.
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Commercially minded, pragmatic, and solutions-focused.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple matters.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating within a wider legal team.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in private practice and/or an in-house employment law role.
- Exposure to cross-border or European employment matters, particularly Ireland.
- Experience working with large, complex organisations.
- Delivery of training or presentations to non-legal stakeholders.
