Overview

A leading telecommunications and technology company is seeking an experienced International Trade and Compliance Consultant to provide short-term support to its global compliance function. The role focuses on ensuring adherence to trade controls, sanctions, and export/import regulations while enabling international business growth.

You’ll balance regulatory obligations with commercial priorities, guiding the business through complex compliance challenges in a fast-paced global environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as subject matter expert on international trade compliance (export control, financial and trade sanctions, customs).
  • Provide practical advice to leadership and business teams on trade and sanctions issues.
  • Support and enhance the International Trade Compliance (ITC) strategy and Internal Compliance Program (ICP).
  • Deliver strategic compliance projects and assist in assurance reviews to assess control effectiveness.
  • Develop and roll out training and communications to raise compliance awareness across the organisation.
  • Identify and escalate key compliance risks, challenging and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and advise on changes affecting the company’s risk profile.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong knowledge of international trade, export control, and sanctions regulations (UK, EU, US).
  • Proven ability to align compliance with commercial objectives.
  • Experience in implementing compliance programs and conducting risk assessments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Background in the telecommunications or technology sector is preferred.
