Our customer, an innovative legal tech company is seeking two experienced lawyers to support the development of cutting-edge contract analysis tools. The company, currently ~100 employees strong, is building AI-driven products designed to help legal teams edit complex contracts and immediately understand the downstream impact of those changes. This is an exciting opportunity to shape how legal technology supports transactional lawyers.
About the Role:
You will work closely with the product team to guide legal intelligence features—particularly those that identify interdependencies and structural impacts within long-form contracts. You’ll provide real-world insights on drafting and risk, help evaluate existing tools, and contribute directly to the evolution of an AI-first contract editing platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse complex contracts (e.g., credit agreements, SPAs) to identify and map interdependencies between clauses, definitions, schedules, etc.
- Collaborate with product managers and developers to refine cause-effect features (e.g., “change clause 27.3, then check Schedule 4 and the definition of ‘N’”).
- Contribute legal insight into how changes to clauses affect the structure and intent of full documents.
- Evaluate outputs from existing product features and provide feedback on accuracy and completeness.
- Support the design of innovative tools for contract editing and risk flagging.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- 5–6 years PQE, ideally from a top-tier law firm or in-house legal team.
- Senior Associate level – experience running deals with partners.
- Strong background in corporate and finance law (M&A, lending, credit facilities, etc.).
- Comfortable understanding and explaining the knock-on effects of structural changes (e.g., removing a revolving facility or a letter of credit).
- Intellectually curious, proactive, and excited about working with emerging legal tech.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and iterative work in a highly collaborative, non-hierarchical environment.
- Experience or comfort working with sample/test contracts to help shape legal tech products.
- Bonus: Familiarity with IP is useful but the core focus is on general transactional experience.
Work Structure & Flexibility:
Remote and project-based (flexible hours and structure). Open to hourly billing or other engagement models depending on mutual fit. Initial scope will focus on evaluating existing product functionality with potential for ongoing collaboration.
