About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Stock Condition Surveyor to conduct detailed inspections of local authority council housing in South West England. Your role will involve assessing the condition of residential properties, identifying maintenance needs, and accurately recording data to support asset management, compliance, and long-term investment planning for social housing stock.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough stock condition surveys on council housing properties, including internal and external assessments.
- Record the condition of building components, defects, and life-cycle data using digital surveying tools (tablet provided).
- Identify and document health and safety risks, ensuring compliance with the Decent Homes Standard and other relevant housing regulations.
- Prepare clear, concise reports to inform maintenance programmes and capital investment strategies.
- Work independently, managing your own schedule and survey routes efficiently.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in stock condition surveying, preferably within the social housing or local authority sector.
- Strong understanding of housing compliance, including the Decent Homes Standard and HHSRS (Housing Health and Safety Rating System).
- Proficiency in using digital surveying tools and software for data collection and reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to daily survey targets.
- Knowledge of building pathology and the ability to assess the remaining lifespan of key property components.
