Job Title: Technical Support Officer - Interim Location: UK Rate: £172.37 per day (PAYE) / £232.28 per day (Umbrella) Contract Type: Interim About the Role: We are seeking a Technical Support Officer to join the maintenance and repairs team responsible for responsive repairs across a portfolio of approximately 5,000 social housing units, including estate environs and leaseholder liabilities. You will assist with investigations, identify defects, and oversee the progress of repairs projects carried out by contractors. Knowledge and experience of HHSRS (Housing Health and Safety Rating System) is essential. Key Responsibilities: * Undertake inspections and surveys following requests for repairs, including visits to tenanted properties. * Provide technical advice on defects, damp, specification work, estimates, labour requirements, and health and safety related to project work. * Prepare and submit survey reports, estimates, and orders for works, ensuring value for money and commercial feasibility. * Engage specialist services and contractors in line with procurement rules. * Monitor and oversee the progress of works carried out by contractors, ensuring compliance with health and safety and statutory regulations. * Support effective Section 20 consultations with leaseholders to maximise income. * Investigate and respond to complaints and enquiries from residents, Councillors, and external bodies. * Maintain accurate records of repairs histories, contract documentation, and financial transactions. * Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, including CDM 2015, and promote safe practices for residents, contractors, and the public. * Work closely with Asset Management to collect stock condition data and produce programmes and priorities. Requirements: * Building-related qualification (HND/HNC) or equivalent experience in a similar role. * Extensive technical knowledge of construction details and defect pathology in domestic dwellings, including high-rise developments. * Sound understanding of health and safety legislation, including CDM 2015. * Knowledge of Disrepair, Environmental Protection Act (EPA), and/or Party Wall legislation/Section 20 consultation is beneficial. * Experience in a building maintenance role, including liaising with residents, leaseholders, and external/internal clients. * Ability to prepare estimates, specifications, and contracts to deadlines. * Proficient in producing spreadsheets, maintaining databases, and delivering presentations. * Strong customer service skills with a commitment to empowering residents and achieving results through collaboration. * Ability to attend evening meetings and work flexibly. Desirable: * Full UK driving licence and willingness to use your own vehicle for travel between sites.
