About the Role: We are seeking an interim Works Surveyor to provide design, procurement, and contract management services for the planned maintenance of housing assets. You will prepare production information to support projects on the planned maintenance programme and independently complete projects from feasibility to post-project review. Collaboration with the housing team and wider Council will be essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out surveys and enquiries to establish project requirements.
- Prepare specifications and drawings for projects.
- Submit statutory applications such as Building Control and Planning.
- Liaise and consult with all project stakeholders.
- Prepare tender documents, including a KPI framework, and procure work independently or with the Council’s procurement team.
- Liaise with the Council’s Legal Team to award contracts.
- Manage projects from inception, leading pre-contract and monthly contract meetings, monitoring quality, programme completion, and KPIs.
- Act as the Council’s lead surveyor on major projects, such as major void repairs.
- Administer contract variations and manage expenditure.
- Ensure health and safety compliance on all projects, including CDM regulations.
- Keep up to date with legislation and technical matters through continued professional development.
- Proactively seek opportunities to improve service delivery.
