Job
Purpose: To provide technical and administrative support for the Building Control service, ensuring efficient delivery of validation, financial, and IT-related functions.
The role involves managing technical support tasks, maintaining compliance with building regulations, and optimising IT systems for service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Validate building regulations applications, notices, and fee calculations, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- Manage financial processes, including invoicing, payment chasing, and purchase orders.
- Optimise the use of IT systems, including document management, GIS, and web-based tools.
- Process property enquiries for building regulation approvals and certificates.
- Provide guidance and support to Technical Support Officers and contribute to service improvements.
- Maintain filing systems and administrative procedures to ensure compliance with legislation and best practices.
- Handle enquiries and correspondence (written, telephone, or face-to-face) and direct customers appropriately.
- Assist with financial and performance data collation and verification.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Building Regulations legislation, IT systems (Microsoft Office, Google Suite), and best practice customer service.
- Strong time management, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and solve problems.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and technical documents.
- Customer-focused with a commitment to excellence.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Educated to A-Level or HND level with GCSE/O-Level in Maths and English, or equivalent literacy and numeric skills.
