Job Title: Private Sector Housing Team Leader - Interim Location: Bedfordshire (Hybrid - office attendance as and when required) Rate: £33.00 per hour (PAYE) / £43.24 per hour (Umbrella) Contract Type: Interim About the Role: We are seeking a Private Sector Housing Team Leader to use statutory powers to regulate and improve conditions of private sector homes in the region. You will support the delivery of the Council's Housing Assistance policy and programmes, progressing the Housing Assistance programme and associated schemes, including face-to-face interactions with a range of customers and providing expert advice. You will assist the Head of Housing Solutions, applying your experience to lead and manage staff in delivering and developing specialised services. Key Responsibilities: * Use statutory powers to regulate and improve conditions of private sector homes. * Support and progress the delivery of the Housing Assistance programme and associated schemes, maximising public and private investment in the housing stock. * Line manage a team of Environmental Health Officers/Technical Officers, covering a wide range of Private Sector Housing functions. * Undertake complex case work and advise EHOs/Technical Officers on complex cases and HMOs. * Undertake first review of prosecution files, tribunal cases, and financial penalty notices. * Manage a reduced number of complex cases, supporting officers by attending inspections and assisting with notices, schedules of work, and evidence files. * Be the first point of contact for customers relevant to the services provided. Requirements: * Significant experience in private sector housing functions, including enforcement and HMO management. * Experience of line managing Environmental Health Officers/Technical Officers. * Sound knowledge of statutory powers relating to private sector housing (e.g., Housing Act 2004). * Strong casework, advisory, and leadership skills.
