Overview

We are recruiting for an experienced Damp and Disrepair Manager on a temporary contract basis, to lead efforts in tackling damp, mould, and disrepair issues across our housing stock β€” ensuring every property is safe, compliant, and comfortable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the damp and disrepair service, ensuring cases are investigated and resolved efficiently.
  • Conduct and oversee inspections, diagnoses, and remediation works for damp and mould issues.
  • Drive management transformation to deliver efficiencies.
  • Manage disrepair claims in line with legal requirements, liaising with solicitors, insurers, and residents.
  • Develop preventative maintenance programmes and track performance KPIs.
  • Provide technical advice to colleagues and promote best practice across the organisation.
  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety, building regulations, and landlord obligations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in managing damp, mould, or disrepair issues within social housing or property maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of building pathology and relevant legislation (e.g. Landlord & Tenant Act, Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills β€” confident engaging with residents and legal representatives.
  • Ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Qualifications such as HNC/HND in Building Surveying, Property Maintenance, or equivalent experience are desirable.
