Overview
We are recruiting for an experienced Damp and Disrepair Manager on a temporary contract basis, to lead efforts in tackling damp, mould, and disrepair issues across our housing stock β ensuring every property is safe, compliant, and comfortable.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the damp and disrepair service, ensuring cases are investigated and resolved efficiently.
- Conduct and oversee inspections, diagnoses, and remediation works for damp and mould issues.
- Drive management transformation to deliver efficiencies.
- Manage disrepair claims in line with legal requirements, liaising with solicitors, insurers, and residents.
- Develop preventative maintenance programmes and track performance KPIs.
- Provide technical advice to colleagues and promote best practice across the organisation.
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety, building regulations, and landlord obligations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in managing damp, mould, or disrepair issues within social housing or property maintenance.
- Strong understanding of building pathology and relevant legislation (e.g. Landlord & Tenant Act, Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act).
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills β confident engaging with residents and legal representatives.
- Ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Qualifications such as HNC/HND in Building Surveying, Property Maintenance, or equivalent experience are desirable.
