We're looking to build a network of experienced Banking & Consumer Finance Lawyers for future consultancy opportunities with leading banks, lenders and financial services organisations. Our clients are seeking senior legal support on an ad hoc basis, with a particular focus on retail banking products, mortgages, consumer lending and product compliance. Although there isn't a live assignment at present, we're keen to speak with lawyers who would be interested in flexible, project-based work as opportunities arise.
Typical Assignments
- Advising on retail banking products, including mortgages, loans and other consumer lending products
- Reviewing and drafting mortgage and lending documentation
- Supporting the development and launch of new banking products
- Advising on product governance and product lifecycle compliance
- Providing legal advice on FCA regulations, including MCOB
- Supporting Consumer Duty implementation and ongoing compliance initiatives
- Reviewing customer communications and financial promotions
- Advising on regulatory change programmes, remediation projects and business-as-usual legal support
- Working closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk and Product teams
About You
You will be a qualified Solicitor (or equivalent) with substantial experience advising financial institutions on retail banking and consumer finance matters. Experience in the following areas is highly desirable:
- Retail banking products
- Mortgage products and mortgage regulation
- Consumer lending and consumer credit
- MCOB (Mortgage Conduct of Business)
- Consumer Duty
- FCA regulatory framework
- Product governance and product compliance
- Financial promotions
- Regulatory change and implementation
Previous in-house experience with a retail bank, building society, challenger bank, specialist lender or other regulated financial services business would be particularly advantageous.
