If you’re a Design Engineer who understands the difference between something that looks good on screen and something that can actually be manufactured properly, this role will make sense. This is a manufacturing-led business with a full in-house sheet metal and fabrication facility. They produce a range of bespoke and configured products for commercial projects, with SolidWorks sitting at the centre of the design function day to day.

They’re looking for someone who can come into an established team and take ownership of detailed design work, manufacturing drawings and product development support across a variety of fabricated metal projects. The role is a mix of design work and practical engineering reality. You’ll be working closely with production, so an understanding of sheet metal processes, folding and manufacturability is important.

What they’re looking for:

  • Strong SolidWorks experience
  • Background within fabrication, manufacturing or sheet metal environments
  • Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings
  • Good understanding of how fabricated products are actually built
  • Someone practical, grounded and comfortable working closely with the workshop

Sheet metal experience is preferred, but they’re open to someone who has the right attitude and a solid manufacturing background. There’s also the chance to get involved in occasional site surveys and customer-facing project work when required.

What’s on offer:

  • £38,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
  • Stable manufacturing environment with growing workloads
  • Informal, straightforward interview process
  • Long-term opportunity with genuine stability
  • Varied project work rather than repetitive catalogue design

This will suit someone who enjoys hands-on engineering environments and wants to design products that actually get built properly.
