The Goods-In Inspector supports the Quality Department at Research Instruments Falmouth by ensuring received goods meet required specifications and supporting in the control of RI measuring and test equipment.

This role is responsible for inspection and testing of received goods and applicable in-process parts. The role also supports the control of measuring and test equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Goods inwards inspection of purchased components used in the manufacture of RI products.
  • Generation of inspection reports.
  • Supporting the control of measurement and test equipment.
  • Internal calibrations.
  • Arrangement of offsite calibrations.
  • Maintenance of the measurement and test equipment records.
  • Assisting with testing and releasing products.
  • Support supplier evaluation and monitoring by performing appropriate inspections.
  • Control of inspection documents and records.
  • Support with any other Quality related investigations and improvements where required.
  • Escalate to the wider Quality team any potential risks.
  • Assistance with inspection of RI manufactured sub-assemblies and finished goods.
  • Assisting with non-routine in-process inspections.
  • Assisting with in-process worksheet sign off.
Qualifications:
  • Engineering background.
  • Knowledge and practice of inspection tools and techniques.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving ability.
  • Results-driven work ethic.
Work Environment:

The role is primarily office based with computer work and use of measuring and testing equipment. The work environment is a clean, air-conditioned environment. All PPE, tools, equipment and storage are provided. Nature of work may include long periods of intense concentration, frequent interruptions, multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.

Experience:

Experience of working in Quality, Manufacturing or Engineering would be preferred.

Education:

There are no specific educational requirements for this role, but the following are essential: Proficiency in English and Mathematics. Proficiency in MS Office is required for day-to-day activities.

Travel:

This role is site based; travel may be required but will be minimal and agreed between the employee and the manager.
