Description
Reporting to the Head of Online Trading, you will lead the commercial performance of our ecommerce business, driving profitable growth through data‑led trading, customer‑focused merchandising and strategic cross‑functional leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Head of Online Trading to shape and execute the ecommerce trading strategy, identifying new opportunities for commercial growth.
- Own ecommerce trading performance, delivering revenue, conversion, average order value (AOV) and profitability targets through data‑led trading decisions.
- Develop and execute trading calendars (promotions, GWP, sampling) and category strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives and promotional plans.
- Analyse trading performance, customer behaviour and market trends to identify opportunities, mitigate risks and provide actionable commercial recommendations.
- Lead the onsite merchandising strategy, optimising product discovery, search and navigation through tools such as Constructor to maximise conversion and customer experience.
- Partner with Commercial Finance and Demand Planning teams to align forecasts, trading plans and inventory availability, ensuring commercial targets are achieved while optimising stock levels.
- Build strong cross‑functional partnerships across CRM, Paid Media, Marketing, Digital IT, Commercial, Finance, Demand planning to deliver strategic ecommerce initiatives.
- Lead weekly and monthly trading reviews, providing clear performance reporting, commercial insights and recommendations.
- Lead, coach and develop one direct report to create a high‑performing culture focused on collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to, and review the evolution of our ecommerce strategy, aligning it with business aspirations, promotional activities and insights from different teams.
- Partner closely with other teams to support teams objectives and new projects.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A skilled collaborator with a proactive and positive can‑do approach with problem‑solving abilities to drive efficiencies.
- Significant experience in ecommerce trading or online merchandising, with a proven track record of delivering commercial growth within a retail or consumer‑focused environment.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience owning and delivering key ecommerce KPIs, including revenue, conversion, average order value (AOV), margin and profitability.
- Highly analytical, with the ability to interpret trading data, customer insights and market trends to make informed commercial decisions.
- Analytical mindset with strong proficiency in Excel and tools such as Google Analytics, BI platforms, or similar.
- Experience developing and executing ecommerce trading strategies, promotional plans and trading calendars.
- Strong knowledge of onsite merchandising, search and product discovery, with experience using merchandising and personalisation tools (e.g. Constructor or similar platforms).
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and influence cross‑functional teams.
- Identifying and resolving issues, making sound decisions under pressure, and adapting to changing circumstances.
- Experience working closely with Commercial Finance and Demand Planning teams to manage forecasts and trading performance.
