We are now looking for a Packaging Development Manager to join our NPD team, leading the end‑to‑end development of our gifting and promotional packaging. This is a key role that brings creative concepts to life — transforming ideas into technically sound, manufacturable, scalable and commercially viable packaging that represents the ELEMIS brand at its best.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Supplier & Vendor Management
- Manage the full development lifecycle with factories, printers and packaging partners
- Build strong supplier relationships and lead onboarding, cost benchmarking and negotiations
- Advise on manufacturing feasibility, capacities and timing constraints
- Work with multiple suppliers to secure competitive costings aligned to project budgets
- Partner with Project Managers to ensure supplier readiness at every stage gate and maintain alignment on external timelines
- Oversee all supplier‑facing specs, cutter guides, materials and production files to ensure accuracy and manufacturability
- Technical Development & Engineering
- Own cutter guides, structural engineering and technical specifications
- Recommend substrates, board grades, finishes and print techniques
- Support creative teams with technical input to ensure premium brand execution
- Align structural and material choices with manufacturing capabilities
- Production Planning & Timelines
- Create and manage production timelines across multiple gifting projects
- Feed accurate timelines, capacities and sample plans into the critical path
- Proactively flag risks, delays and dependencies across teams
- Align with Demand Planning to ensure production volumes support forecasts
- Sampling Process Management
- Manage all sampling stages (mock-ups, print proofs, pre‑production samples)
- Coordinate requirements, costs and timing with suppliers
- Review and approve technical samples, documenting decisions clearly
- Track and elevate risks that may impact bulk readiness
- Quality Control & Production Oversight
- Approve cutter guides, print proofs and pre‑production samples
- Conduct quality checks and attend press passes where required
- Ensure finished goods meet brand standards, specs and sustainability commitments
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Act as the key link between Design, Product Management, Operations, and Demand Planning
- Confirm supplier readiness, material lead times, and capacity planning before CP approval
- Provide technical risk assessments and updates at key checkpoints
- Partner with Regulatory teams to integrate packaging compliance and copy approvals into the development lifecycle
- Participate in bi‑weekly regulatory reviews and flag any risks to timelines
- Sustainability
- Ensure all decisions support ELEMIS sustainability goals across Climate, Biodiversity & People pillars
What You Bring:
- Extensive packaging development experience (beauty, luxury, retail, or FMCG gifting preferred)
- Strong technical understanding of print processes, finishes and materials
- Skilled in cutter guides, structural development, and production artwork
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast‑paced environment
- Confident supplier manager with strong negotiation skills
