Element has an opportunity for the role of a Product Assessor to join our growing team. The role will involve undertaking the analysis of results from fire resistance testing and the production of product assessments. A technical mindset with great organisation, project management, commercial and communication skills are essential characteristics for this role. This is a great opportunity to develop your Technical & Certification career within a Global Testing, Inspection and Certification business.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare robust technical engineering reports in relation to passive fire protection product sectors such as fire doors, fire stopping, partitions.
  • Be able to judge the relevance and impact of fire resistance test data, in order to provide advice based on customer needs and produce technical assessment and classification reports, European Technical Assessments and third-party Certification.
  • Plan and lead scope analysis & test programmes.
  • Continuously develop knowledge (CPD) personally and within the team in National, European and International Standards.
  • Help to develop and drive the team and business strategies to ensure we maintain our technical integrity in everything we do.
  • Lead and contribute to the development of standards, and to represent the company, as appropriate, on nominated standards, sector group and trade association committees and on other public platforms.
  • Assisting in the development of the department.
  • Work with manager, colleagues and team to increase knowledge of role and standards and the service provided by all.
  • Suitably project manage your workload from enquiry through to delivery of the scope of works, whilst managing customer expectations and ensuring high levels of customer care.
  • Exposure within a TIC business undertaking work in either fire resistance testing and/or assessment/certification work is preferred, however exposure within any fire industry, building materials, materials science, product installation, engineering, construction, product certification, fire-related product development or a similar technical industry would be advantageous.
  • Ideally educated to minimum BSc/BEng level standard or higher, with an engineering/construction related degree or through relevant industry experience.
  • Ideally a Professional membership with an engineering institution, preferably the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), as well as recognition by the Engineering Council at EngTech or above is ideal although not essential.
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings, design codes and product standards plus handle a varied workload.
  • This role is working hybrid, ideally we would want suitable applicants being close to either our High Wycombe, Warrington or London locations.
