Elementa are recruiting for an SEND Arts Lead (Teacher) across the School (KS3 +) at this special school for children with SEND predominantly relating to ASC and SEMH. This specialist education provider supports students across the primary and secondary phases and uses a therapeutic approach to supporting learners. All students have an EHCP which commonly relates to any/all of SEMH, ASC and anxiety. The organisation focuses on a holistic and creative education approach in order for learners to achieve their full potential whilst in this special school.

The school has been completely renovated within the last 3 years and offers a stunning workplace. They support learners aged between 5 - 18. The school operates over 2 sites, has an onsite farm and the latest addition is an onsite coffee shop.

The successful applicant will be expected to safeguard students’ welfare, promote and support the educational and therapeutic needs of the students, contribute to curriculum meetings and the whole school development plan, collaborate with learning support staff and prepare bespoke resources.

The SEND Arts Lead (Teacher) will plan, deliver and lead the creative curriculum including drama and theatre studies and will likely be involved in cross-curricular work with other subjects including PSHE, Horticulture, Home Cooking, Animal skills and PE.

Essential criteria:

  • Drama / Theatre Studies specialist or extensive relevant experience
  • Lead/leadership experience
  • UK QTS
  • UK SEND teaching experience
  • Clear DBS (civil offences may be permissible)

A DBS Enhanced Disclosure application will be required for this role (which may be chargeable at £62.70) unless you have a clear DBS Enhanced Disclosure subscribed to the Update Service. A clear DBS is desirable but not a barrier to being considered.
