PE Teacher – Fluent Welsh

About the role

Elementa Wales is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic fluent Welsh-speaking PE Teacher to work with schools across Torfaen.

If you're passionate about sport, physical activity and helping young people build confidence both on and off the pitch, we'd love to hear from you!

Fluency in Welsh is essential, as teaching will take place through the medium of Welsh.

You'll deliver engaging and inclusive PE lessons, encouraging pupils of all abilities to get involved, develop new skills and enjoy being active.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging PE lessons through the medium of Welsh, in line with the relevant curriculum.
  • Encourage participation, teamwork, confidence and positive attitudes towards physical activity.
  • Teach a range of sports and physical activities across the curriculum.
  • Manage behaviour effectively in both classroom and practical settings.
  • Adapt teaching and activities to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff to support pupil progress and wellbeing.

Requirements

  • Fluency in Welsh – essential.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Strong knowledge of the PE curriculum.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A positive, energetic and professional approach.
  • EWC registration, or willingness to register.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new application.

Desirable

  • Previous experience teaching PE within a Welsh-medium secondary school.
  • Experience teaching across KS3 and KS4.
  • Experience supporting extracurricular sport or school teams.
