We are looking for a caring, motivated Apprentice Learning Support Mentor to join our alternative provision, supporting children and young people with additional needs. This is an exciting opportunity for someone aged 16+ who is interested in a long-term career supporting children and is ready to commit to a 4-year apprenticeship programme, combining hands-on experience with professional training.
About the role
- Support children with additional needs in a small, nurturing alternative provision setting
- Help pupils engage with learning, develop confidence, and build positive relationships
- Work closely with experienced mentors, and senior staff
- Learn practical strategies to support behaviour, communication, and emotional wellbeing
- Gain a nationally recognised qualification while earning and learning
This role would suit someone who:
- Is aged 16 or over
- Has GCSEs at Grade C / 4 or above (or is working towards them – desirable but not essential)
- Is committed to a 4-year apprenticeship and long-term development
- Is kind, patient, reliable, and eager to learn
- Is interested in a future career supporting children or young people
You might be especially suited if you:
- Help or volunteer at youth groups (e.g. Cubs, Brownies, Scouts, Guides)
- Have completed work experience in a school or childcare setting
- Have siblings or family members with additional needs
- Are considering careers in education, youth work, psychology, SEND, or social care
