About the role
Elementa Wales is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic fluent Welsh-speaking Health & Social Care Teacher to work with schools across Torfaen.
We're looking for someone who can make Health & Social Care relevant, engaging and meaningful – helping learners understand the real-world issues, careers and responsibilities within the health, care and wellbeing sectors.
Fluency in Welsh is essential, as teaching will take place through the medium of Welsh.
You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons, supporting learners with both theoretical and practical aspects of the subject and helping them achieve their full potential.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver engaging Health & Social Care lessons through the medium of Welsh, in line with the relevant curriculum and qualification requirements.
- Bring real-world health, care and wellbeing topics into the classroom.
- Support pupils with coursework, assessments and examination preparation where appropriate.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively.
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Work collaboratively with school staff to support pupil achievement.
Requirements
- Fluency in Welsh – essential.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Strong knowledge of Health & Social Care and the relevant curriculum.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- A positive, flexible and professional approach.
- EWC registration, or willingness to register.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new application.
Desirable
- Previous experience teaching Health & Social Care within a Welsh-medium secondary school or further education setting.
- Experience delivering relevant vocational qualifications.
- Professional experience or knowledge of the health and social care sector.
