Elementa is recruiting for a SEND Teacher with a strong background in supporting children with additional needs. The role is based at a specialist secondary provision in Weston-super-Mare for pupils aged 11-16 years, who struggle with social-emotional mental health (SEMH), and who find attending mainstream education a challenge. This role can be challenging, as the children may have other additional needs, such as ADHD and Autism. You will need to be experienced in supporting children with a variety of needs, have strong behaviour and classroom management skills, and have experience in delivering the national curriculum, including literacy, numeracy and science.
Whilst this may be a challenging role, it can also be very rewarding, seeing the children develop and progress with the right support in place. As a SEND Teacher, you will be leading a small class, with the additional support of HLTA's and Learning Mentors, providing engaging and insightful lessons, tailored to the needs of the class, and approaching it in a way that the children will be able to understand and therefore succeed.
Key Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS)
- Demonstrated experience in addressing the needs of students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges
- Passion for creating inclusive and supportive learning environments
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- A DBS subscribed to the update service would be an advantage for this position, to allow for a quick start. Applications without a DBS on the update service will be considered, however, processing a new DBS can take time and may delay the start time.
If you have the relevant skills and experience necessary for this role, please apply with your full up-to-date CV.
