We are seeking dedicated and experienced SENCOs to join our network of schools and education settings across a range of environments, including mainstream schools, specialist SEND settings, Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and alternative provision. These opportunities are ideal for SENCOs looking for flexible, part-time, temporary, contract or longer-term roles where they can use their expertise to make a meaningful difference to the lives and outcomes of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The Role
As a SENCO, you will lead and coordinate SEND provision within your allocated setting, working closely with senior leaders, teachers, support staff, parents/carers, external professionals and local authorities. Depending on the setting and role, responsibilities may include:
- Leading and coordinating high-quality SEND provision across the school or setting
- Overseeing the identification, assessment and support of students with additional needs
- Managing and coordinating EHCP processes, annual reviews and statutory requirements
- Monitoring student progress and evaluating the effectiveness of SEND provision
- Working collaboratively with teaching and support staff to develop appropriate strategies and interventions
- Providing advice, guidance and training to staff to strengthen inclusive practice
- Liaising effectively with parents/carers and external agencies, including educational psychologists, health professionals and local authorities
- Maintaining accurate SEND records and ensuring appropriate documentation is completed
- Supporting the effective implementation and review of individual support plans and provision
- Promoting an inclusive culture where all students are supported to achieve their potential
- Ensuring SEND provision is compliant with the SEND Code of Practice and relevant statutory requirements
We Are Looking For
We are interested in hearing from SENCOs who have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO), or are currently working towards the qualification
- Experience working as a SENCO, Assistant SENCO or within a SEN leadership role
- Experience within one or more educational settings, including mainstream schools, specialist/SEND settings, PRUs or alternative provision
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes, annual reviews and statutory requirements
- Experience supporting students with a range of needs, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, learning difficulties and complex needs
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience working collaboratively with parents/carers, external professionals and local authorities
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
- A proactive, flexible and solution-focused approach
- A genuine commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND
